Dr. Elliot Jacobs, member of The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and The American Society for Plastic Surgery, recommends waiting for body contouring until you have lost all the weight you plan to lose, and have maintained that weight for at least a year. If body contouring is done before your weight loss is complete, further sagging of the skin could occur as your lose more weight. In addition, healing from surgery may be difficult when you are in the process of losing weight due to changes in your nutritional status.
