Dr. Charles Burant, director of the Michigan Metabolomics and Obesity Center, states that the show exploits overweight people whose real goal is winning the $250,000 prize.
"I’m waiting for the first person to have a heart attack," Dr. Burant said.
Medical consultants for the show state that the program is safe, and procedures are being implemented to monitor contestants more closely following this season’s hospitalizations.
