Facebook removes its controversial “fat” emoticon

The “feeling fat” status option was removed from the platform after users argued that the emoticon prompted body shaming. You can still use the “stuffed” emotion when updating your status if you’ve overeaten and are feeling bloated, however, the “feeling fat” emoticon is now gone for good.

“It’s a step forward for the body-positive activists,” said Catherine Weingarten, the Endangered Bodies member who launched the Change.org petition. “I hope it shows young activists that speaking out can make a difference.”
