There have been research that has figured out a definite link between infertility (or the inability to get pregnant) and obesity.
The Obesity Action Coalition states that obese women have a more difficult time getting pregnant than normal weight women, and they also have a greater chance of losing the baby.
For men, a study by the U.S. National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences suggests that every 20 pound increase in a man's weight means a 10% increase in the chances of infertility.
It is possible for women to become pregnant after weight loss surgery, but this must be discussed with a bariatric professional.
