ROSE procedure corrects pouch stretching through the mouth

Gastric bypass patients who experience stretching of the stomach pouch or stoma may begin to experience weight regain a few years after surgery. A new outpatient procedure called Restorative Obesity Surgery, Endoluminal (ROSE ) can restore the pouch to the original post-operative size, limiting food intake. Patients who have regained a portion of their weight and notice that they feel less full after meals may be candidates for the procedure.

Doctors say weight loss procedure is painless, doesn't leave marks

A new type of transoral weight loss surgery, Primary Obesity Surgery Endoscopic (POSE) is showing encouraging results after clinical trials. Twenty-seven people received the experimental surgery, including nine by The Surgical Specialists of Louisiana.  POSE, developed by USGI Medical, is a type of restrictive surgery that reduces the stomach’s capacity through the use of a flexible tube that is inserted into the mouth to reach the stomach.
