2 major questions to ponder regarding your weight-loss goals

 

It’s normal to think that once you meet your goal weight, life will be perfect. However, what if the happiness you’re seeking can be achieved right now before you meet your weight-loss goals?

Some people who daydream about having a perfect body may actually be striving for a seemingly perfect life. These individuals often tend to put off doing things that make them happy until they lose all their excess weight, thinking they’ll be able to achieve those goals only when they’re skinny. But these individuals often don’t realize that the things they want can often still be achieved regardless of body weight.

If this sounds like you, take a moment to consider why you want to lose weight to make sure you’re doing it for all the right reasons. Here are two big questions to ask yourself regarding your weight-loss goals.

1. How will your life be different after you meet your target weight?

Think about how you want your life to be different once you meet your goal weight, and if possible, try to start including those things in your life right now. Be adventurous, and keep in mind that whatever’s holding you back from pursuing your goals may not be applicable to body size and weight. Do you truly want to turn heads on the beach? Look for a bathing suit designed specifically to enhance the curves of plus-sized women. Do you want to start doing yoga? Sign up for a beginner’s yoga class to get started on your journey.

If you can find ways to enjoy your life now by doing the things you want to do later on when you’re slimmer, you may actually benefit from accelerated weight loss, and more happiness.

2. How do you want to feel when you meet your goal weight?

Are you losing weight so you can feel more confident, self-assured, and sexy about your body and physical appearance? Or are you losing weight in an effort to reverse certain obesity-related health problems such as type 2 diabetes and asthma? Think about how you want to feel when you finally do reach your target weight. Consider those feelings, and figure out how to invoke those types of feelings and apply them to your present life today.

Is your goal simply to look sexier? Consider getting a new haircut, buying new makeup and trying new makeup techniques, or treating yourself to new everyday clothes or gym clothes that will make you look and feel sexier. Are you more concerned about losing weight to become healthier? Focus on improving your diet even more by boosting your intake of fruits and vegetables, cutting out alcohol completely, and limiting yourself to a small piece of dessert just one day per week. The sooner you can start practicing habits that you want in your life after you become thinner, the sooner you can adjust to living the healthier, happier lifestyle you deserve.
