Foothills Weight Loss Specialists in Tennessee is celebrating seven years of bariatric surgery success with the seventh annual Bariatric Fashion Show, held this Thursday at the Airport Hilton in Alcoa. Free and open to the public, the event features participants who have undergone weight loss surgery and who model their former “fat clothes” to demonstrate the dramatic effects of bariatric surgery.

Now, more than in any other time of year we are bombarded with messages demanding that we act. Everywhere we look we’re told that now is the time to beat the rush, bust down the door, don’t miss this "can’t miss" event, but most of all, hurry because supplies are limited. It doesn’t matter which holiday we celebrate, or if we celebrate anything all; a whirlwind of high expectations and "have to's" seem to define December. External pressure to "go faster and do more" adds the kind of internal pressure that can make us feel defeated without even moving an inch. What’s really limited this time of year is a supply of self-care.
