5 healthy fat-burning foods to eat throughout fall
As today kicks off the official start of the fall season, you’re probably anxious to start baking with apples, pumpkins, and squash to get into the autumn spirit. Plus, it’s difficult not to get excited about the upcoming holiday season! Thankfully, the fall season offers a number of healthy fruits and vegetables that are prime for picking this time of year.
If your goal is to lose weight or to keep up with your current weight-loss goals this fall season, get primed for holiday eating by adding these five healthy fat-burning foods to your diet.
1. Sweet potatoes
Sweet potatoes are rich in fiber, which means you’ll feel full for longer periods of time after eating while also burning off calories as your digestive system works extra hard to process this complex vegetable. Sweet potatoes are rich in nutrients and antioxidants that can help regulate blood sugar levels, and are an optimal source of beta-carotene. The healthiest way to prepare and eat sweet potatoes is to steam or bake them, and eat as a side dish with lean protein.
Like sweet potatoes, pears are high in dietary fiber, and can help ward of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. At your local grocer, you’ll be able to find different types of pears throughout the fall and winter seasons. Also, pears contain high levels of pectin just like apples, which binds to water and limits the amount of fat your body generally absorbs. Add pears to salads, eat with goat cheese for a healthy snack, or eat whole in between meals.
