MBL's Best Of The Web
With our ever changing world, technology and knowledge of technology is not just important, but essential. I joke that I am not very techno savvy, but really I don't care that much. It's not important to me to have the latest, fastest, biggest new gadget out there. If it weren't for my DH and teenage son, I'd have a bag phone and still be using rabbit ear antennae on my TV. But I do love my cell phone and the ability to text quickly and get an answer back. My 82 year old mother is even a texter. Because of her many years as a secretary ( that's what they were called in the 50's) she writes out her texts in complete sentences. Some of the abbreviations used by my generation of Gen Xers for many years are:
IDK - I Don't Know
CYA - Cover Your A$$
SOL - S*@t out of Luck
OMG - Oh My GoshAnd some of these I learned as I started texting more. Such as:
AFK - Away From Keyboard- I heard Sheldon Cooper say that on The Big Bang Theory.
NBD - No Big Deal
DH - Darling Husband
WTH - What the HellBut some, I admit, I had to look up:
FOMO - Feeling of Missing Out - my cousin Dani in California says that a lot.
WFH - Work From Home
OOTD - Outfit of the Day
GRWM - Get Ready with Me - mainly used by Youtubers. But my favorite, not for the language, but for the multitude of definitions, is:
WTF - What the F@#$?
WTF- Why the Face?
WTF - WOW that's Fantastic! How's your texting? Are you a pro or do you still have to google them sometimes? Keep those fingers busy!
