Talk to any weight-loss or fitness professional about ways to add more physical activity to your daily routine, and they’ll give you advice such as “park farther away from the store,” or “take stairs instead of the escalator.” While these are great tips that will get you moving, they might just be a bit mundane for some people’s tastes.
There are endless creative ways to lose weight and become fit, and one of the keys to lasting weight-loss success is engaging in activities that are fun and enjoyable.
Here are several fun ways to add more physical activity to your everyday routine.
Exercise like nobody’s watching
Have you ever heard the expression, “dance like nobody’s watching?” Well, you can apply this popular saying to your fitness routine as well. Stop feeling self-conscious about the noises you make and about the way you look when you’re working out so you can get more out of your workouts. If a public gym setting is too much for you to handle, find ways to exercise in the privacy of your own home, then exercise like nobody’s watching. On the other hand, if you enjoy dancing, go into your bedroom and close the door, crank up the music, and dance to your favorite, upbeat music like nobody’s watching.
Rent a neighbor’s dog
Are you an animal lover? Ask one or more dog owners in your neighborhood if you can borrow their dog so you can take them for a walk. Inform your neighbor that you don’t necessarily expect anything in return, but that you’re simply trying to add more physical activity to your daily routine. In most cases, your neighbors will be grateful that you’re helping their animals get more exercise, as well as helping them save time to do other activities.
