Time-saving hacks for lunchtime workouts

If your days normally consist of logging full-time hours at work, picking up the kids from school, going to soccer practice, then coming home and preparing dinner for the entire family, it can be difficult to find time to exercise.

But how can you get an entire workout done in under an hour, clean yourself up, and make it back to your desk on time?

Here are a few time-saving hacks you can practice for your lunchtime workout

Keep your outfit simple

If your work outfit is too complex, you might not feel inclined to take everything off and put it all back on at the end of your lunchtime workout. Keep jewelry to a minimum, and avoid wearing pantyhose or tights if at all possible. If you work in an office with a business professional dress code, think about wearing one-piece dresses or comfortable pantsuits that you can easily and quickly get in and out of.

Keep your hair pulled back

If you have short hair, you might be able to wash and dry it quickly before returning to the office. But if you have long hair, find creative ways to style it back and off your face. For your workout, wear a sweat-wicking headband to help prevent the hair around your face from becoming sweaty and greasy. Work your hair into a braid, bun, or chignon after your workout so you don’t have to worry about washing and drying your hair afterward.

Wash up quickly

If you go to a busy gym that usually has a long line for the shower, forget about stripping down and wearing a towel before standing in line. Instead, grab a towel and immediately go to the shower line fully clothed. Use your time standing in line to do your post-workout static stretching, and strip down right before it’s time to shower.

Get dressed quickly

If greasy hair is a major problem for you post-workout, use dry shampoo to clean your hair — especially your bangs and the hair around your face. If you’re worried about finding the time to apply makeup, consider using tinted moisturizer as a foundation, and apply loose powder to the center of your face to reduce shine. Better yet, focus on just applying lipstick and eye makeup, and let your face glow naturally as a result of getting exercise.
